CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING
Monday, February 10th, 2025
Minutes of the City of Crescent Regular Council Meeting Monday, February 10th, 2025. Meeting called to order at 7:00p.m. by Mayor Chuck Hildreth. COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Flott, Powers, Hargens. Schmidt, Brand absent. Fire Chief Peterson present.
Consent agenda / Motion by Powers to approve consent agenda, seconded by Flott; Hargens, all ayes. Motion carried.
Resolution 143-2025 / Approval to switch City’s credit card from American National Mastercard to Chase Mastercard. Motion by Powers to approve, seconded by Flott; Hargens, all ayes. Motion carried.
Resolution 144-2025 / Approval of contract with Yard Brand Co Ltd to maintain website. Motion by Hargens to approve, seconded by Flott; Powers, all ayes. Motion carried.
Ordinance Amendment 011325 / Sidewalk Ordinance, 2nd Reading. Motion by Hargens to approve, seconded by Flott; Powers, all ayes. Motion carried.
Mayor’s Report / Sent shop drawings for FlowPoint system to Snyders. DNR will contract us on waste load allocation by end of February. It will be open for public comments for 30 days after receiving. By April 1st we should be able to send project out for bid.
Maintenance / Report submitted. Cutting brush at park. Trimmed damaged trees. Lots of cleaning on the cold days. Prepping for snow to come. Will be on vacation the 15th thru 19th.
PeopleService / Report submitted. Generator was eaten by mice again. Mayor has permanent fix in mind.
Park Board / Spartans will not be using field. Still have Hurricane’s. Farmer’s Market will reserve every other Saturday. Waiting for new waiver changes from attorney.
Discussion / Mayor and clerk toured school. It looks very nice, clean. Three rooms set up for robotics. Gym is set up with baseball and softball batting cages. Considering golf simulators and putting greens outside for future. They bus kids here on Monday’s since they get out of school early. Hargens asked about a tour. School board is possibly going to host hot dog feed once it’s complete.
CVFD / 50 calls for January. Two new members started who are local. They currently have around 17 volunteers and are still taking applications.
Public Forum / Ed Wangler asked about sweeping the sidewalk from GH to Casey’s. Craig will take care of that as well as spraying for weeds. Another asked about a burn ban. There is currently no burn ban, but it’s extremely dry. Craig warned against it. They’ve had several burn barrel calls from sparks flying.
